My Favourite Headshots of 2019

It’s always good to look back on the year that’s been.

In fact, the end of 2019 wasn’t just the end of a year, it was the end of a decade. But nevermind that, I want to share some of my favourite headshot sessions of 2019!

Kaitlyn – actor headshots

Melbourne actor headshot of brunette girl with long hair and slight smile - wearing denim jacket

Kaitlyn is an actor, who came to me early last year for some actor headshots to kickstart her career, after graduating from NIDA. She was about to embark on a travelling Shakespeare performance, which was taking her around the state, as well as internationally.

In all my actor sessions I encourage my clients to think about what characters and roles they are cast for. When Kaitlyn answered these questions, one of her answers was the ‘bully’. So keeping that in mind, we went for something striking and moody in these shots.

Heidi – Child Actor/Model Portfolio

Melbourne actor headshot of young girl in black and white.

This was my first time working with beautiful Heidi, who was in need of some updated headshots and portraits for her portfolio. Heidi is a young actress and model in Melbourne, and is listed with an agency. She’s talented beyond the camera, bringing her own creativity into the shoot, and even showed off some basketball skills in a couple of portraits as well! This black and white headshot of Heidi is one of my favourites – I love the intensity!

Luke – Personal Branding & Headshots. Founder of RAIN Consulting

Melbourne corporate headshot photography and personal branding portraits. Candid portrait of man smiling while sitting outdoors.

Luke booked in for some headshots and branding images to use on his new website. As an engineer, Luke had just branched out on his own and launched RAIN Consulting. He wanted to capture a sense of professionalism and show that he was a bit more creative, relaxed and approachable. This is one of the shots we captured, which fits more into a lifestyle/branding category. We did manage to get so many fabulous images to choose from.

Ella – Child Modelling Portfolio

Melbourne actor headshot and model portfolio of young girl with blue background

Ella was a gorgeous young lady who came into the studio last year for her very first modelling portfolio session. We were able to capture a mixture of indoor and outdoor portraits to create a diverse portfolio to use for acting and modelling with her new agency. I love this portrait of Ella, which feels soft and modern. That tone of blue really compliments the overall portrait, and brings out the blue in her eyes, too!

Ben – Actor Headshots

Melbourne actor headshot of Ben Pfeiffer in a studio setting on a dark background

This was my second time working with Ben, who was updating his actor headshots since his looks have changed. Ben is cast as a lot of darker, sci-fi characters. So we captured portraits to communicate his suitability for these roles. This headshot was captured amongst a series of light testing. Ben’s ability to engage with the camera and others around him is really showcased here – where there is an unusual intensity and level of engagement, when this shot, in reality, was a light test.
Check out my past shoot with Ben from 2018.

Rianda – Headshots and Branding for RAIN Consulting.

Melbourne personal branding and corporate headshot of woman in natural outdoor setting

Rianda came to my studio when she joined Luke, at RAIN Consulting. She needed a headshot to go on their website, that complimented Luke’s and showcased her warm personality (yet, remained professional). I love how relaxed Rianda looks in this final shot. The beautiful outdoor location worked well against her soft blue shirt.

Rahul – Actor Headshots

Melbourne actor headshot of a man with serious expression on pale grey background

In 2019 Rahul decided he wanted to pursue his dream. Step one included visiting my studio and getting himself a set of actor headshots. We photographed a portfolio of images that ranged from headshot to full length, indoors to outdoors. This particular studio headshot feels really engaged and striking. For Rahul’s first-ever photoshoot, he really took direction spectacularly.

Lisa – Corporate Headshots and Branding Portraits

Personal branding and corporate portrait of woman smiling in a relaxed pose

Lisa contacted me before booking into her headshot session, asking about my process and telling me about how uncomfortable photography has made her in the past. I reassured her she’d be fine, and I’d be around for some proper direction as well. I absolutely love this outcome of our shoot. It’s always lovely to capture genuine laughs and smiles. Her daughter Cass was also with us, who was updating her actor headshots at the same time. A great way to bounce feedback and support off each other – having someone you love and trust in the room can really help!

Bella – Actor Headshots

Melbourne actor headshot of young girl in studio on a dark grey background

Bella, a talented high school studio, is passionate about the entertainment industry. She has a natural flair for musical theatre, landing one of the main roles in the school musical in just year 7! A little older now, Bella is a trained singer and has dreams of furthering her career in the industry. She was absolutely ace in her headshot session!

April – Actor Headshots

Melbourne actor headshot of girl smiling outdoors

I loved working with April, whose positive attitude and openness to ideas was a delight. We worked across the studio and outdoors to capture a wide range of images that she can submit to different roles. This natural light outdoor headshot really captures that sweet girl next door look that April has. Also, how gorgeous is her red hair against those stunning blue eyes?
