What not to wear in your headshot

Most people ask what they should wear for their professional headshot photoshoot. I’ve discussed this across multiple blog posts, and I always give my clients plenty of personalised advice if they need it.

But today I want to discuss what NOT to wear for a professional headshot.

Things To Avoid:

Let’s put a list together. I don’t think I need to expand on the below points too much. Take this as general advice. Remember, it’s just advice and just my opinion as a professional portrait photographer.

  • Low cut tops.
  • Big logos.
  • Graphics and recognisable characters.
  • Geometric patterns of any size.
  • Large, bold patterns.
  • Anything ultra reflective (or with reflective strips).
  • Big, chunky jumpers or items with limited shape.
