What Is A Personal Branding Photoshoot?

Personal Branding may seem like a buzzword but in the digital age with a whole world of ‘online’, personal branding is becoming more important than ever.

If you’re struggling to understand what a personal brand is, then read my blog post on how to create a personal brand for yourself.

If you’re across what a personal brand is, you may want to clarify what a personal branding photoshoot is. What do they involve, and why are they necessary?

What Is Involved In A Personal Branding Photoshoot:

If you are booking a personal branding photoshoot then you are ready to put your best self forward. In a personal branding session we are exploring ‘you’ and bringing out your best.

We want to convey personality and your difference. How this is achieved is in a lot of ways, and it comes down to planning.

Do you want your photos in a studio, or in a particular location? Should they be indoors or outdoors? Do you require props, or just yourself?

There are lots of considerations that come before the photoshoot itself. Knowing your goals for the shoot (what you want to get out of it), and where your images will be used are the first considerations to make.

Once you have the ideas down, a photographer booked, the shoot itself might involve a number of things. It could involve hair and makeup, it could involve multiple locations. Your photographer should have an idea on what you will be achieving together, and will be the one to guide you through poses and prompt you throughout the photoshoot.

What Types Of Images Are Captured In A Personal Branding Photoshoot?

A personal branding photoshoot should cover multiple needs. You should aim to get a mix of images from headshots to full body portraits. It’s great to capture a mix of images where you are looking at the camera, and a mix of ‘candid’ portraits as well, to show you in a more relaxed state.

Ultimately the types of images photographed will entirely depend on what your requirements and visual goals are.

Can I do My Own Personal Branding Shoot?

Whilst a professional branding photographer will have the additional knowledge, skills and equipment to get high end results, you can always take your own portraits. Check out my post on how to take a professional headshot for some tips. Otherwise, you can book me to take all the hard work out of it!

What Should I Expect When Booking A Professional Photographer?

A professional photographer should be a great communicator. They should make you feel amazing about yourself and never make you feel self-conscious or uncomfortable.

Your photographer will guide you through the process, and most have handy guides and tips for what to wear and what to bring. Photographers also generally have makeup artist recommendations if you require professional hair and makeup for your photoshoot.

During the photoshoot itself, expect your photographer to direct you as you go. Some of the poses and requests may sound a little strange, but trust that they know what they’re doing. Make sure you review the photos as you go, so you can ensure you are on the right track.
