Choosing Photography Over A.I – Why You Should Opt For Real Images
Choosing Photography Over A.I - Why You Should Opt For Real Images
In An Era of A.I Headshots, Choose Real Photography.
It’s 2026, AI is creeping into everyday life. We see it in advertising. We use it to write emails. It has become a search engine.
AI has become the revolutionary tool of the future. It can do everything – write, advise, create. It can even create ‘realistic images of you’ – for free, or for only a small fee.
So why shouldn’t you jump at the opportunity to generate all your content needs? After all, you’ve been told you need to ‘show up’, be the face of your business, put yourself out there.
Let me share my view – and yes, it’s biased, because I am a photographer who captures portraiture and headshots for a living. And I love what I do.
AI Headshots Are Not Real:
They Cannot Create Trust.
They Cannot Show Who You Are.
They Do Not Portray You In The Best Light.
They Cannot Show Who You Are.
They Do Not Portray You In The Best Light.
Do you ever find yourself pulling away from content that’s AI?
You’re watching a funny video and reading the comments, before learning that the moment in the video never even happened.
An advertisement comes up on your television or social media feed, and you can tell the business didn’t pay creators, artists, and designers to create their content.
You read content that feels so quintessentially inhuman. Short sentences and snappy wording that doesn’t feel organic.
These are things that I’m coming across and feeling every single day. It seems to be that creative industries are taking the most hits. It’s the people and industries that have had to work and fight the hardest to be paid and respected, that are now losing their jobs to AI. Give me an AI that’ll cook and clean my house please. We don’t need our creativity taken from us.
Let me get to the point, shall I?
Here’s why a real headshot is better than an AI generated headshot:
- Real photography creates trust, because it is from a genuine moment.
- Real photography shows your true investment in yourself, your business and career. It has taken you time, money and mental effort to portray yourself at your best.
- Real photography gives you the chance to indulge in an experience that will make you feel great about yourself. It’s a chance to actually celebrate who you are.
- Real photography looks authentically like you – not the ghost of a feint version of you. Ever seen AI’s representation of you, and it’s slightly off? It’s not really you.
- Real photography doesn’t risk your likeness, data and identity being stolen by artificial intelligence.
It would be pointless for me to type away and argue all day. If you’re weighing up AI imagery vs photography, you’re probably time-poor, and unlikely to read any more of this (if you’ve even read to this point already).
Take this as a sign, or a plea, or however else you’d like to interpret it: treat yourself to the experience of having a real photograph taken. It’s the only true way to make a real connection, in a world where we seem to be increasingly losing human touch.
