Headshots at EOFY

Headshots at EOFY: Saving before tax time!

We’re mid-June of 2026!

Wild. I can’t believe how quickly this year is going, and being two weeks out of the end of financial year means we’re full-steam ahead!

Does professional photography matter at the end of the financial year? Can you really claim back the cost of a professional headshot session or corporate team photoshoot?

Well, I’m not a tax accountant and cannot give official advice. You should definitely check with them, but in most cases, where your photography is specifically for your professional work or business, you can claim the expense back.

* In Australia, at least.

claiming a personal headshot

If you are getting a professional headshot to update your LinkedIn profile, for your work’s website, or for any other business/career relation, there is a good chance you can claim this as a work expense.

What you’ll need to do is have your payment and invoice in by June 30th (Australia), and for that invoice to note the purpose.

Ask your photographer to note business or work headshots on the invoice to make it really clear.

Claiming Team Headshots & Business photography

End of Financial Year is a great time to use up any leftover marketing budget. Many marketing teams find this a good opportunity to get updated corporate staff headshots or leadership portraits.

Sometimes businesses I’ve worked with have ordered additional images from their previous photoshoots to use up budget and have fresh new images to use going forward.

Staff headshots can be a bit of a logistical challenge to get sorted. So if you’re struggling to get it in before EOFY, talk it through to see if you can pre-pay or put a generous deposit down before June 30th if needed.

Want to book a session in before EOFY?

I’m based in Melbourne, Australia, with a professional studio. I also travel on-location for photoshoots.
