How Do We Capture Real & Authentic Headshots?

1- Pre-Planning

I work with actors before their sessions to learn about their experiences and discover their goals in the industry. 

We do this via an online survey, and in my signature and half-day packages, you’ll receive a one-on-one zoom call where we cover everything from image style to what outfits to bring along.

Including mid-length and full-length images allows you to provide casting directors with more images and help you stand out.

3- Pose & expression coaching to ensure you look amazing.

As a professional headshot photographer, I’ll guide you into the right angles and poses to convey the types and moods you need to convey.

We use your expression to help convey you as suitable for different roles. From serious and edgy, to warm and nurturing. 

Simple directions and coaching put you at ease, and create natural headshots and portraits.

4- Professional retouching that keeps you REAL...

You need to walk into your audition looking like your headshot. Which means, while my headshots are professionally retouched, they still look like you.

No skin blurring or tacky filters, I preserve skin texture and address retouching in an authentic way. We’ll touch up blemishes and flyaways, and can take a light approach on reducing dark undereyes and softening wrinkles. You’ll look like the best version of you, but in a way that won’t shock a casting director.

5 - My Professional Studio

At the Julia Nance Portraits studio in Ringwood East (Melbourne’s eastern suburbs),  you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere that aims to make you comfortable. With beautiful outdoor settings and plenty of studio backgrounds to choose from, we’ll be able to create a portfolio of images that showcase a range of characters.

Here’s a little rundown of my actor headshot sessions:

Express Headshot Session – $290

1 IMAGE | 30 Min Session

Express headshot sessions are best suited to those wanting a simple actor headshot. Express sessions are based at my Ringwood East studio. 

  • 1 headshot of your choice

  • Choose a studio OR outdoor session.
  • Additional headshots priced at $120
  • Professional retouching

Add hair & makeup: + $250 pending makeup artist availability. This adds one hour onto your session.

Explore multiple types and a range of moods. These sessions are based at my Ringwood East studio.

  • 15 minute zoom planning consultation
  • Multiple backgrounds: indoors & outdoors
  • Various portraits captured: headshots, mid-length and full-length
  • Complimentary copy of my posing guide
