Meet Ben Pfeiffer

Ben Pfeiffer needed some updated headshots, so in 2018 he booked in with me to get some fresh, natural light images. His look had changed a lot since he had his last headshots taken, so he needed something more current. This is the most important tool for actors, and actor headshots need to stay current.
For Ben’s 2018 photoshoot, we had an outdoor session on a beautiful Australian summer day. Shooting around my studio we explored a few different textures and backdrops to achieve a variety of images, along with some outfit changes to cover a few looks.
My (previous) studio in Lilydale is surrounded by beautiful nature. There are over 10 acres of bushland and fields, and it overlooks the Dandenong Ranges. I really love shooting there because it is so peaceful.
During my shoot with Ben, we focused all our imagery on being captured outdoors with natural light. We utilised various scenery to create different looks. The dark image (top of page) is the most striking to me. The background has small faded blues coming through, and it complements his shirt and eyes. It is also quite contrasty and moody for an outdoor shot. Taken in the middle of the day, light was diffused so it wasn’t too harsh. The result still gave us striking contrast between Ben and the background.
I worked with Ben again in 2019 with a longer hairstyle, this time we worked in the studio as well as outdoors. I’ve added a couple of those pictures to the collection below, too.
About Ben:
Ben Pfeiffer is an Australian Actor for both screen and stage. He has featured in The Spiral (2017), which was shot in Malaysia. Ben also regularly performs in theatre, such as ‘Colder’, at Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre in St Kilda, VIC. He is also the founder of ‘The Artisan Collective‘, which is a Theatre company and is also based in St Kilda.
